Getting to Laguna Beach

I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions on how to get to Laguna from LA via public transport? Would the best way be on Amtrak, stopping at Irvine station and getting a bus to Laguna?

Also, are there busses that go between Laguna and Newport?

Look into an airport shuttle - go to the Los Angeles website (http://www.lawa.org/welcomelax.aspx) and look under Ground Transportation. If you take a cab, it might be about $100 one way. Also, where are you staying? Have you contacted the hotel to see if there's any particular shuttle or van service they work with or suggest?
