Laguna Beach, CA - The Festival of Arts is proud to present a spectacular new exhibit, Portraits, now on display through March 10th, at the downtown Laguna Beach Wells Fargo, 260 Ocean Avenue, on the third floor. Showcasing an intriguing glimpse into the world of portraiture, Portraits, successfully engages the viewer with the subject. The early concept of portraiture began as painting or sculpture of a person in which the face and its expression is predominant. Over time, however, the evolution of the genre expanded into additional areas of investigation, such as: photography, printmaking, mixed media, as well as experimental applications with new media.
Festival of Arts artists featured in this show include, Bill Agee, Sandra Jones Campbell, Dirk Hagner, Stephanie Cunningham, Rick Graves, Betty Haight, Robert Hansen, Julita Jones, Elizabeth McGhee, Bradford J. Salamon, Gregg Stone, Bruce Vanderwilt, and Barbara White. The intent of these artists is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the given subject, through a composed image in a still position. A free artist reception is open to the public from 11am-2pm, on Saturday, January 29th. Come and meet the Festival of Arts artists whose work is showcased in this exhibit. The Festival of Arts Art Collection Specialist, Pat Sparkuhl commented, "The current, Festival of Arts exhibit invites the viewer to experience a moment in the life of a stranger as well as being able to discover a variety of artistic styles and media."
This exhibit is part of an ongoing series of shows that the Festival of Arts is having at Wells Fargo this year. The building is open to the public Monday through Friday 9: a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Festival of Arts is a non-profit organization whose proceeds support the arts in and about Laguna Beach.
